Susan Lee discovers why Tulisa’s fashion choices are good news for one boutique.
She has become an international style icon thanks to her high profile appearances on the X factor.
But when it comes to Tulisa’s fashion choices Liverpool girls are proving to be way ahead of her.
For while the former N-Dubz star has become a champion of glamour label Forever Unique, wearing it both on and off stage, the eyecatching brand has been a favourite of city girls for years.
“Yes, we’ve stocked it for the last seven years so we’re ahead of the curve,” laughs Belinda Shaw of Boudoir Boutique in Cavern Walks. “Girls in Liverpool want to be ahead of the game when it comes to clothes and they love anything a bit different so it’s always been a great brand for us.”
That said Belinda admits the ‘Tulisa’ effect has seen an upsurge in interest in the range which is also a favourite of The Kardashians.
“We had a lot of girls buying the long black (Kassidy) dress for New Year or 21st Birthday parties after they’d seen Tulisa in it on the X Factor. “She’s a young girl who is very influential and that includes her choice of clothes. “But it also shows we aren’t afraid to follow celebrity and do it in our own way.”
With a Forever Unique diffusion line available – watch out too for a new range of separates including a fur coat Belinda reckons the label is more accessible than ever.

What a fabulous time we had at the Drapers awards last week at London’s Grosvenor House Hotel. With over 1000 of fashions finest joining in the celebrations, the champagne flowed, chandeliers sparkled and we all got on our dancing Terry De Havillands to the music.
We met new Editor-In-Chief at Drapers, Caroline Nodder who gave us a heartwarming speech about how “fashion, quite simply, rocks” and watched as the gorgeous Tess Daly handed out the awards. It was fantastic to see the fabulous Hilary Alexander given the Outstanding Contribution to Fashion award and all at Boudoir would like to say a huge Congratulations to Darling for their win for Womenswear Brand of the year. Well done!
Although Boudoir Boutique did not come home with the award for Womens Retailer Of The Year, we are still thrilled to have been nominated and invited to such an amazing night!.. Watch out for Next year’s awards…. !
